ASCENT is an art edition of FMP Notebook No.1, built around the same paper and construction but given a new visual identity.

The natural cover features an original linocut artwork in which a fountain pen nib emerges from a mountain — somewhere between an object, a landscape and a symbol of writing itself.

The raw character of linocut was chosen deliberately. Instead of the precision of a digital illustration, the artwork retains texture, irregularity and visible marks that give the cover a physical character of its own.

Inside, nothing needed changing.

ASCENT explores the point where writing, craftsmanship and landscape meet. The rough character of linocut gives the illustration a tactile quality that deliberately contrasts with perfectly clean digital graphics.

The result is a notebook that feels less like branded merchandise and more like a small graphic object made for writing.

Made for fountain pens

The paper inside is the same paper developed for the original FMP Notebook No.1.

It was selected after testing 864 different types of paper with multiple fountain pens, nib sizes and inks over eight months of testing and refinement.

The result is a 140 gsm paper designed to keep fountain pen writing controlled, clean and enjoyable from the first page to the last.

Designed to stay open

The exposed spine is not hidden because it does not need to be.

It allows the notebook to lie naturally open while writing and makes the construction itself part of the design.

No unnecessary decoration.

Sustainability

The notebook is made from FSC-certified paper. The cover uses natural FSC paper without chemical dyes, and the notebook is not wrapped in plastic or filled with unnecessary inserts.
