ABOUT ME:

Hi, my name is Filip, and I am the person behind Follow My Pen.

My fascination with writing instruments started long before I knew anything about nibs, filling systems, limited editions, or Japanese urushi lacquer. As a child, I was already drawn to stationery. I remember having a large pen case in elementary school, filled with pens and pencils, and I loved the simple act of writing. I even wrote poetry when I was younger. Looking back, the connection was already there — I just did not yet know where it would lead.

My first luxury pen was the Porsche Design TecFlex by Faber-Castell, which I received from my parents as a graduation gift. Before that, most of my pens were simple, everyday writing instruments. But that gift changed the way I looked at pens. Suddenly, a pen was no longer just something to write with. It became an object with design, weight, material, memory, and meaning.

Since then, collecting writing instruments has become much more than a hobby. For me, it is a way of exploring craftsmanship, culture, design, and the stories behind the objects we choose to keep close to us.

Today, my collection includes fountain pens, pencils, ballpoints, and rollerballs from brands such as Montblanc, Pilot, Namiki, Graf von Faber-Castell, Yard-O-Led, Waldmann, Platinum, Pelikan, and others. I have a deep appreciation for Montblanc, especially its Meisterstück, Writers Edition, Patron of Art, and High Artistry pieces. At the same time, I am strongly drawn to Japanese writing culture — from the precision of Pilot nibs to the beauty of Namiki urushi and maki-e.

Over time, fountain pens became the centre of my collection. I love the way they write, the ritual of filling them with ink, the character of different nibs, and the quiet pleasure of choosing the right pen for a specific moment. I still enjoy fine and precise nibs, but I have also learned to appreciate broader, softer, and more expressive writing experiences. A pen is never just about the object itself. It is also about the story — how it entered the collection, who gave it to me, where I found it, what I wrote with it, and why it stayed.

Through Follow My Pen, I share this world with others. What began as a personal passion has gradually grown into a blog, Instagram profile, shop, and creative space dedicated to writing culture. I write about pens, inks, paper, craftsmanship, brands, collectors, and the small rituals that make writing by hand feel meaningful.

I am also interested in the people and traditions behind these objects. That is why I enjoy interviews, brand stories, workshop visits, and deeper articles that go beyond simple product reviews. For me, the most interesting question is rarely just what is this pen? but rather why does it exist, who made it, and what makes it worth caring about?

Follow My Pen is my way of documenting this journey — one pen, one story, and one handwritten line at a time.
